Broad-leaved dock (Rumex obtusifolius)
Leaf – broad, oval leaves
Flower – May to October, green and white flowers
Root – strong, deep tap root
Habitat – a wide range of soil types and conditions
The curled dock and broad-leaved dock are typically found in neglected lawns and rough grassland. Broad leaved docks have deep tap roots which help them survive in a wide variety of conditions but make removal by hand difficult. These large-leaved weeds rarely survive in a regularly mown lawn.
